By the time I reached Arthur’s final decision, one in which you can once again engage in a contradiction by attempting to steal the gang’s stash instead of aiding John Marston in his escape, I was already finished. Arthur’s death was just another bump in the road in discovering what exactly the epilogue held, as the mystery over who you would play as was much greater than seeing the closing scenes of a character I was done with many hours before.
What an interesting take from this leak. So apparently, Red Dead Redemption 2 was stuck in a form of development hell – which is when a game’s initial development is halted and the future of whether or not it will continue is still in the air. It’s interesting that the team “kept remaking a vertical slice demo” as late as months prior to the game’s official announcement. It seems they got everything in order in those months.
Throughout the opening third of Red Dead Redemption 2 locations Dead Redemption , Marston will attempt to call out the immoral actions of his companions, only for them to turn around and point out how Marston comes from a life of immorality. At one point he attempts to defend his prior life as one with a code, to which Bonnie MacFarlane mockingly replies, “The outlaw with a code? How wonderfully romantic! The reluctant murderer, the noble criminal. There’s nothing more depressing than a man who’s found a way to think the bad into good.”
While we don’t know how long he was there for, we can assume it was pretty long because the next thing we know Mary has moved on. When Arthur finally gets back, he receives a letter from his ex saying she couldn’t wait for him anymor
Once again, this phrase turned out to be entirely correct . What a shocker. In the epilogue, you do end up at Beecher’s Hope, even if not immediately, and build up your ranch. There are mini-games that are just mashing buttons (which were surprisingly fun). I don’t recall a gazebo specifically, but you do build John’s house in a similar manner.
As fun as it may seem to throw haymakers at your friends, hand-to-hand combat is not ideal for BR. Much like a throw-down at your local watering hole, fist fights are noisy, attract a lot of attention, and don’t usually turn out as planned. Knocking someone out with your fists also takes far too long and therefore should only be used as a last resort . As I was browsing my way throughout some great Red Dead Redemption 2 content this weekend, I stumbled across some people harassing a guy who was clearly making up fake spoilers for the game and trying to fabricate leaks for the upcoming Red Dead Online . Then, I thought to myself; “were there any leaks we didn’t believe that turned out to be true?” and got to researching. I finally discovered one that we should have believed all the way back from 2016.
Due to the executives and investors not finding the project “innovative enough,” I can only guess that features such as realistic weight gain, food, core systems, and the schedules of NPCs were refined/added to please them. If an early build of Red Dead Redemption 2 was not innovative enough for Rockstar’s producers and stockholders, then can you imagine the challenge the team may face for their next potential games like Grand Theft Auto VI or Bully 2 ? Yeah.
Because of the account being deleted prior to my research and discovering this leak from years ago, I had to find it through a Reddit post from September 29, 2017 (on “r/RedDeadRedemption”). In the comments of this post, one user tells the story of the original leak getting harassment for not being credible:
The greatest violation comes when you meet Rain Falls, a Native American chief, in Saint Denis. Having briefly encountered him during a party at the mayor’s house, he now seeks your aid to help obtain documents that report an oil reservoir underneath the reservation land. Arthur is, as usual, unwilling to help out until one of them offers payment in return. However it isn’t until he begins to compare the persecution his gang faces to the persecution the Native Americans face as somehow equal that he really begins to show his true character.

Thankfully, he eventually learns later on when Red Dead Redemption 2 shows nothing but disdain for the way the United States government and military have treated the Native Peoples that his prior statement was not true at all. However, it does show that Arthur was uninterested in helping other people unless it meant he got paid, even when it was a people group as badly treated as the Natives.
Red Dead Redemption was the tale of John Marston being forced back into the life of an outlaw due to his family being held hostage by the government. Marston was a man who was tired of killing, but would do it anyway because he wanted his family back and to return to a life of peace. This is curiously repeated in the epilogue of Red Dead Redemption 2 , as you once again take control of Marston as he seeks a peaceful life on the ranch of another only to be forced back into killing.
