The Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man trailer also revealed two new suits for Peter Parker that didn’t seem to be present in the Closed Alpha: Spider-Punk and the Bombastic Bag Man . Both choices make sense, as they are fan favorites. However, the character of Spider-Punk isn’t actually Peter Parker, but rather Hobie Brown, a Spider-Man from Earth-138 who has appeared in many multiversal stories, from the Spider-Verse comics to the recent Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse animated mo
Doctor Strange may just be the strongest character in Marvel Rivals , to the surprise of long-time Marvel fans. He is a Vanguard, the game’s term for a tank. Doctor Strange can create portals across the map , teleporting allies directly to their targets and enemies to their doom. He pools Dark Magic with each hit, eventually pouring it out onto enemies again. With flight, shielding, and long-range attacks, stopping the Sorcerer Supreme is h
From long-standing disagreements with his teammate Cyclops to full-fledged wars with characters like Sabretooth , sometimes things get personal for the Canadian mauler. Though Wolverine has more enemies than friends, only a select few foes can truly be counted among his roster of riv
Battling against the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants’ leader on innumerable occasions, things hit their lowest point between Wolverine and Magneto when the latter used his powers to completely remove Logan’s bones. Magneto has been a villain, and he has been a sympathetic character as well, but Wolverine has never been too eager to team
Recasting Wolverine would have been controversial, of course, not least because this is a mutant who isn’t really supposed to age at all due to his healing factor. And yet, Vaughn’s way of doing it is probably the best. Fox would have introduced their new Wolverine before Hugh Jackman had bowed out, in much the same way Patrick Stewart was willing to reprise the role a couple of times after X-Men: First Class . A meeting between the two Wolverines in X-Men: Days of Future Past would have felt like the passing of the torch, from one iteration to the n
Raven’s beefs with the X-Men naturally brought her in direct conflict with Wolverine, but the pair actually started as allies. Existing in the distant past like Wolverine, Mystique first encountered Logan in the 1920s, but their disparate ideologies saw them eventually have disagreements. Many of Wolverine’s rivalries involve harsh battles, but his clashes with Mystique have been much more sub
Most interestingly, X-Men: Days of Future Past would have involved interactions between two different incarnations of the X-Men. Xavier and Magneto, more firmly established as respective leaders of the X-Men and the Brotherhood, would be faced with the horrific reality of the world their conflict would create. It’s possible the two Wolverines would come mind-to-mind, in a similar scene to the one in which James McAvoy’s Charles Xavier met his future self, played by Patrick Stew
Mantis is a Strategist, the support/healing role in Marvel Rivals . Her build is actually quite similar to Ana from Overwatch 2 , the game’s biggest rival. Just as Mantis heals her teammates over time, she can put her rivals to sleep for ten seconds. Her other abilities allow her to provide a Damage Boost by spending her life orbs. She’s set to be one of the best support units in Marvel Riva
Scarlet Witch wields her chaos magic as a Duelist, a well-rounded damage-dealing class of characters in Marvel Rivals . Her basic attacks charge up explosive magic missiles . Even better, your powerful ability can stun your enemies before you tear into them. Her flight makes her quite mobile, while her diverse abilities make her easy to wield against the enemy t
Marvel Rivals ** has revealed a new cinematic trailer at San Diego Comic-Con 2024, further exploring the main storyline of Marvel Games and NetEase Games’ third-person hero shooter. It’s been known since the original announcement of the game that Marvel Rivals would essentially be a multiversal story, with new worlds and Spider-Variants such as Peter and Peni Parker fighting side-by-side in the game’s various arenas. However, the new trailer provided more context into why the heroes are at odds, providing a proper look at the game’s main villain, Dr. Doom** , as well as Thor, a playable character who had been leaked before but wasn’t featured in the Closed Alpha playtest.
I completely expected Thor to appear at some point as a playable hero regardless of the leaks, simply because Loki is already in the game, and the God of Thunder has been used in so much current Marvel media due to his increase in popularity with mainstream audiences over the years – most likely due to his portrayal by Chris Hemsworth in the Marvel Rivals story guide Cinematic Universe – that his omission would feel jarring. The character I was more excited to see, however, was Dr. Doom . Doom was announced in the press release that accompanied Marvel Rivals ‘ first trailer, and it was clear he would play a major part in the story, but this is the first we have seen of the character and his future variant.
